Have you ever struggled to know how to slow things down? This week, I had an eye-opening conversation with a friend that really emphasized the importance of doing the work that I offer sooner, rather than later.
After 30 years of running their business in finance, my friend told me they needed to learn to slow down. They had just received some shocking and daunting news—they might be battling cancer.
This wasn't the first scare they'd had. They'd spent years struggling with various health issues, particularly gastrointestinal problems. Their doctor had been urging them for years to slow down, manage their stress better, and create more balance in their life. They knew the importance of it, but after decades of building their business one way, they literally didn't know HOW to operate any differently.
Now, with the C word being introduced, they knew they had to figure it out, and it felt terrifying to have to unlearn so many years of routine.
The truth is, this is far more common than you think. So many people operate in ways that they KNOW aren't sustainable, but wait until their health concerns escalate to one that shakes them enough to decide to make important shifts. In fact, maybe you're even wiggling uncomfortably in your seat reading this, knowing that there are small health issues you've been avoiding.
Fortunately, it's never too late to start creating healthier habits in your business and personal life. And the sooner you start, the more energy and longevity you provide yourself to focus on the things that you care about most in your time on this earth--which ironically, is very rarely your business, when you truly think about it.
Are you ready to start unlearning the unhealthy habits and patterns that led you to your current success but can't possibly carry you into your next level? I offer 1:1 MIND Performance Coaching to provide support and accountability in helping to guide you out of a cycle of overworking and underliving! I hope none of you ever have to have that same conversation with your loved ones that my friend had with me. In fact, I hope for all of you the healthiest and happiest living always.
I wish you a safe and relaxing Labor Day weekend, full of relaxation and all the things you love.
